23 things- 23rd thing

I think it's great that the whole library is involved in this program. It has been interesting to learn new ways of doing things. I had previously experimented with a few of these technologies- delicious and facebook...it is a good way of keeping in touch. My family used FaceBook as a way of communicating about a sick baby who was born in another State- they were able to see his progress without each person individually bothering the parents.
I like the idea of a personal blog, once you get over the fact that your voice is out there.
I also discovered Geni.com which allows you to map your geneology. It's fantastic. I found out that I am related to the McSporrans! Seriously.
There are issues around privacy and identity theft.
Jane has pointed out that we need to be aware of how we use these technologies. Are we just going to transfer the old ways to new software...
There is much scope for the library to be involved with our community, students, researchers, other librarians wordwide. It is important to look at why and how the software is used.
I look forward to further developments
